Getting Better Everyday

Great day!! Lilly is really turning it on!! We have found our groove and it is working well. Here is how is looks now. Stretching then weight training. Yes, weight training. I will have to get some pics of this but Lilly needs my cheers to prompt a push. And it requires both my hands!

From there we get on the Total Gym for some leg squats and sit ups. She is doing an excellent job!

Then we head to the sensory room for some swinging on hands and knees. She is pushing up through her arms great and we have found the balance between joy and frustration. When biting starts to occur, stop and have some vibration in the mouth. Usually 20 min is spent here as long as she tolerates it. Maybe a little transition from sitting up to hands and knees to get drink or toy till she seems spent or 11:30, whichever comes first.

All of this is spent in the compression garments. At 11:30 we do our brushing before we put on the suit. The brushing is going good. The rest of the morning is spent doing all kinds of transitions. Today she ROCKED from sitting to tall knees!!! We had been using a small wedge to help get her started and today she did it all by herself without the wedge!! She thought she was big stuff!! That is what the video will be today. Attempted some crawling today but that seemed to push her too far so we moved on and did some walking.

We have had problems with Lilly’s hips turning while walking. Brandy moved some things around and it seemed to help. She has some ideas why this happens. All the transitions we are doing are making her hips stronger and this will ultimately help with the twisting.

Can’t say it enough….thank you everyone for all your help getting here!!! We couldn’t make these trips without your support. We have always felt that as long as God provides we will keep on going!! He hasn’t let us down and I know He never will!! We attended a dinner here in Sikeston last week and the speaker reminded us that we all have some sort of weakness or handicap. And God can use those to show His power. Don’t focus on the handicap but appreciate the gift of God’s grace. “My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9. That verse has just stuck with me all week. What a comfort!

Gunnar and my mom are coming tomorrow!!!! I can’t wait to see them!
