Wow! We leave Sunday for KC and today was Lilly's last day at therapy. The last couple of weeks we have had to BEG her to take steps in her gait trainer. She was basically just using the frame to hold on and her therapist would shift her weight from one side to the other while we pleaded for her to take a step and she still wouldn't. We sang every song we knew and offered every favorite thing she owned. Well today was AWESOME!!!! All we had to do was put our hands on top of hers and push the gait trainer a little and Lilly took steps on her own!! No help shifting her weight or anything!!! She took an average of 4 steps in a row on at least 4 separate occasions. PRAISE THE LORD!!! Words can't describe the sight of her walking like that. And could you ask for better timing?
You know God puts people in your path everyday just for you. This morning I met Lilly's new service coordinator. We were talking and sharing and it was obvious that she was a Christian. I made a comment about asking God to give Lilly the ability to talk. I would be happy with Mama, Daddy, Bubby. And she reminded me that God was much bigger than that and I could confidently ask for more than that. And then change my thinking and my words that I use to support that confidence in His abilities. I really needed that. I think I put Him in a box sometimes when He has shown me over and over that a box can't contain Him. So I reminded myself of all the times God went above and beyond for me. Then we went to therapy and Lilly had the best day ever and God showed me what the outside of the box looks like!
